Regal Components supplies drive systems for an UGVs (Unmanned Ground Vehicle) to a leading OEM in the defence industry.
These UGVs are designed for off-road use in rough terrain, capable of carrying loads exceeding 600 kg (1323 lbs) at speeds up to 10 km/h (6.2 mph). Each hub motor can support a radial load of up to 21,000 N if needed.
The vehicles are equipped with a 48V battery system and four traction motors, each featuring a PMSM motor coupled to a planetary hub gearbox. The motors provide a combined traction power of 57 kW (S2-2min). Thanks to the compact design of the drive system, most of the space inside the frame is freed up for other uses.
