Regal Components supplies drive systems for an UGV (Unmanned ground vehicle) to a leading OEM in the defence industry.
The UGVs are used off-road in rough terrain to carry loads exceeding 600 kg (1323 lbs) at speeds up to 10 km/h (6.2 mph). Each hub motor can support 21000 N radial load if needed.
The UGV has a 48V battery system and four traction motors, each equipped with a PMSM motor coupled to a planetary hub gearbox. The motors have a combined traction power of 57kW (S2-2min) and the compact measurements frees up most of the space inside the frame for other use.
